Have a theatre ticket for the evening in London? Or are you just a late riser? (You're on holiday, after all!) Then this tour to Stonehenge is perfect for you and all in a traditional London Black Cab or luxury 16-seater Mercedes minicoach (depending on numbers). Our qualified guide and driver will whisk you down to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Stonehenge, giving you a history of the site and what to expect once you arrive. You'll be accompanied up to the Stones where your guide will be on hand and where you can take photos.

Before Stonehenge's imposing stones come into view, we'll drive by Durrington Walls, a colossal earthen ring crowned with a grassy rampart, holding the secrets of a vibrant Neolithic community, and also Woodhenge, where ancient wood posts once stood in a circle.

Guest in front of the stones.

Stonehenge is well served by a gift shop and restaurant. The Visitor Centre gives us an impression of how the site developed over the centuries. The passage of seasons are also illustrated from ancient times to today. Video shorts in the visitor centre show how the stones were put up and on display are many exhibits from the excavated site, including pottery, bronze daggers, arrow heads and even the skeleton of a local man who lived and died long before the site of Stonehenge was even developed.

Straw roof Bronze Age huts.

Outside the Visitor Centre recreations of bronze age huts are on display for us to see how prehistoric man lived and worked. There's even a recreation of how it's thought one of the huge stones may have been moved. There's a shop where souvenirs can be purchased and also a restaurant at the site, where hot and cold drinks and snacks can be purchased.

Amongst the many sites we'll visit on our way back to London will be a section of ancient heathland, said to be the best preserved in the country.

  • The London black cab is wheelchair-accessible and permitted in areas restricted to regular vehicles. Accommodates up to 4 passengers with luggage or up to 6 passengers without.
  • The Mercedes minicoach accommodates up to 16 passengers with or without luggage and includes both a driver and a dedicated step-on tour guide.
